Description
The complete factory service and repair manual for the 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 Ford Escape (sold as the Ford Kuga outside North America) — 101 numbered factory service sections plus a full 43-document wiring diagram set, delivered as one searchable download.
About the 2013–2016 Escape
The third-generation Escape was a complete break from the boxy truck-like Escape before it: a global C-platform car with EcoBoost turbo engines and the six-speed automatic. It is also an intensely well-documented vehicle in the recall record, particularly the 1.6L EcoBoost, which makes having the actual factory procedures more useful here than on almost any other Ford of the era.

What’s inside
101 factory sections from 100-00 through 502-00: engine mechanical and management for all three engines, the 6F35 transaxle, the all-wheel-drive system, brakes with anti-lock and stability control, steering and suspension, climate control, restraints, emissions, and the complete body group. This download pairs the workshop manual with the matching wiring diagram set — 43 documents of connector views, component location views and circuit diagrams, including the electronic engine controls cells for the 1.6L EcoBoost and the 2.0/2.5L, and the 6F35 transmission controls. The workshop manual cross-references those wiring cells by number; here you actually have them.
Common issues this manual helps you tackle
- 1.6L EcoBoost cylinder head overheating and cracking — the defining defect of this engine, where localised head overheating cracks the head and leaks oil onto hot exhaust components. Ford’s remedies added a cylinder head shield, a revised degas bottle and thermostat, a coolant level sensor and new engine calibrations. The engine and cooling sections document every one of those components.
- The 2013 fire recall cluster — a split engine-compartment fuel line, a dislodging cylinder head cup plug, and coolant leaks onto the exhaust, each its own campaign. The fuel system and cooling sections cover the supply lines, the head plug and coolant leak diagnosis.
- EcoBoost coolant intrusion into the cylinders — coolant disappearing with no external leak, white smoke and misfires. The procedure is a long-duration pressure test followed by a borescope, and the engine and cooling sections carry it.
- Side door latch pawl spring failure — doors that will not stay shut or can open while moving, addressed by replacing all four latches. The body section documents the latches, strikers and door hardware.
- Restraint control module failure — a cracked protective coating lets moisture short the board, so airbags and pretensioners may not deploy. The supplemental restraint section covers the module, its location and its replacement.
- 6F35 transmission failure and shift cable bushing — shudder, harsh shifts, slipping and eventual failure, plus the separate shift cable bushing recall that can leave the car out of Park. The transaxle and external control sections cover the overhaul, the torque converter, the solenoid body and the cable.

Frequently asked questions
Is this the Escape or the Kuga?
Both. They are the same vehicle sold under two names, and the factory documentation covers it as one.
Are wiring diagrams really included?
Yes — that is worth saying plainly, because the workshop manual on its own only points at the wiring cells. This download includes the actual 43-document wiring set.
Does it cover the 1.6L EcoBoost?
Yes, with its own engine and fuel-charging sections, plus the cooling system components that its recalls revolve around.
Will it fit a 2017 Escape?
Not properly. The 1.5L EcoBoost replaced the 1.6L for 2017, so this manual is written for 2013 to 2016.
Which years does it fit?
2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.
