About the 2020–2022 Explorer

The sixth-generation Explorer was a ground-up re-engineering rather than a restyle: Ford moved it off the front-drive platform it had used since 2011 onto the rear-drive CD6 architecture, with the engine mounted longitudinally and a ten-speed automatic behind it.
