Description

The complete factory service and repair manual for the 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 Ford Mustang — the full dealer documentation set for the retro S197 car, delivered as a searchable PDF download. Nearly 1,200 factory PDFs organised the way Ford organises them: general information, chassis, powertrain, electrical, and body and paint, plus a complete Powertrain Control and Emissions Diagnosis library and a dedicated wiring diagram set.

About the 2005–2010 Mustang

The 2005 Mustang was the car that made retro work: a long-hood fastback shape drawn straight from 1967, on an all-new platform with a live rear axle and, from 2007, the supercharged Shelby GT500 at the top of the range. It is one of the most-modified cars in America, which is exactly why the factory procedures matter — when a car has been through several owners and a parts catalogue, the dealer manual is the only reliable baseline.

Vehicles covered

Ford Mustang (S197), including GT and the supercharged Shelby GT500
Model years: 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010

Engines documented

Every engine in the range has its own numbered factory section:

  • 4.0L SOHC V6 — section 303-01A
  • 4.6L three-valve V8 (GT) — section 303-01B
  • 5.4L four-valve supercharged V8 (Shelby GT500) — section 303-01C, with supercharger cooling in 303-03B

Each engine also has its own fuel charging and controls section (303-04A/B/C), plus accessory drive, cooling and the engine system general information section.

Transmission & drivetrain

  • TR-3650 five-speed manual, with clutch and clutch control sections
  • Automatic transmission, including its external controls and selector linkage
  • Driveline, rear axle and the full chassis group

What’s inside

Five factory groups covering the whole car — general information (including identification codes and NVH diagnosis), chassis (suspension, steering, brakes, driveline and wheels), powertrain (the engine sections above, transmissions, fuel, exhaust and emissions), electrical, and body and paint. Two things lift this set above a typical download: a 151-file Powertrain Control and Emissions Diagnosis library for driveability and code work, and a separate wiring diagram collection, alongside engine and emission facts summaries for the 4.0L and 4.6L.

Common issues this manual helps you tackle

  • Two-piece spark plugs seizing and snapping — the classic 4.6L three-valve problem, where the plug’s extended shield carbon-welds itself into the head. The 4.6L engine section covers cylinder head and plug service, with the torque figures that stop it happening again.
  • Airbag recalls, including the Takata inflator campaigns — these cars were recalled for both driver and passenger inflators, and separately for passenger-airbag compliance on 2005–2008 cars. The electrical and restraints coverage documents the system and its service procedures.
  • Automatic transmission servo bore wear — the five-speed automatic’s aluminium servo bores wear and give flared or delayed shifts. The transmission sections carry diagnosis, internal service and specifications.
  • 4.0L V6 timing chain rattle — worn guides and tensioners on the SOHC V6 give the cold-start rattle these cars are known for. Section 303-01A documents the timing drive and its replacement.
  • Charging system faults and battery drain — alternator and junction-box problems behind the “check charging system” message. The electrical group and the wiring diagrams let you trace it properly instead of guessing.
  • Aluminium hood paint blistering — a documented corrosion problem on these cars. The body and paint group covers panel refinishing and corrosion repair.

Format

Searchable PDF set, delivered as a single download organised in the factory’s own folder structure. Works on Windows, Mac, Linux, tablets and phones. English. Instant download after checkout.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Shelby GT500 covered?
Yes. The supercharged 5.4L four-valve V8 has its own engine and fuel-charging sections, plus a dedicated supercharger cooling section.

Are wiring diagrams included?
Yes — a separate wiring diagram collection sits alongside the workshop sections.

Will it help with a check-engine light?
Yes. The Powertrain Control and Emissions Diagnosis library is built for exactly that: symptom charts, pinpoint tests and code-driven diagnosis.

Can I search it?
Yes, every section is a searchable PDF.

Which years does it fit?
2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 — the S197 years that share the 4.0L V6, 4.6L three-valve GT and 5.4L GT500 powertrains, before the 2011 move to the 3.7L V6 and 5.0L V8.
