Description

The complete factory service and repair manual for the 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 Ford Transit — the Mk7 van — delivered as a searchable set of 96 factory service sections covering the whole vehicle, from identification codes to body repair.

About the 2006–2011 Transit

The Mk7 is the Transit that spent its life working: the default panel van, minibus and chassis cab across Europe and well beyond, in more body styles than any manufacturer had a right to offer. These are the years before the 2012 update simplified the engine range, so this manual documents the full line-up as it was sold — the 2.2L and 2.4L Duratorq TDCi diesels and the 2.3L Duratec petrol — which is exactly what a van of this age needs when it is being kept on the road rather than traded in.

What’s inside

Ninety-six numbered sections covering the van end to end: identification codes, suspension, steering and power steering, the driveshaft and rear axle, front and rear disc brakes and power brake actuation, wheels and tyres, the three engines with their fuel charging, glow plug, ignition, emission control, evaporative emission and electronic engine control sections, the MT75 gearbox and clutch, the starting and charging systems, climate control and auxiliary climate control, exterior lighting, the module communications network, module configuration, multifunction electronic modules, passive anti-theft, the supplemental restraint system, seating, interior and exterior trim, handles, locks, latches and entry, wipers and washers, the roof opening panel, information and entertainment, wiring harnesses, and body repair including front-end sheet metal.

Common issues this manual helps you tackle

  • Injector failure and leaking seals — the classic TDCi fault, giving misfire, rough idle, smoke and limp-home mode. The fuel charging and fuel system sections document injector service for both diesels.
  • Turbocharger failure from a blocked oil feed — the trade consensus is that most Transit turbo failures are oil-supply failures, and that a new turbo without a new oil feed pipe is a turbo that will fail again. The engine sections cover the turbocharger, its oil supply and the lubrication system.
  • Dual-mass flywheel and clutch wear — judder, rattle and slip on hard-worked vans. The clutch, clutch controls and MT75 transmission sections carry the removal and inspection procedures.
  • EGR valve sticking — carbon-fouled valves giving rough running, smoke and poor pulling power. The emission control and electronic engine control sections document the valve and its testing.
  • Rear axle and propshaft wear on rear-drive vans — including the axle shaft retention recall on early builds. Sections 10 and 11 cover the driveshaft, rear drive axle and differential in full.
  • Front suspension and power steering recalls — a cluster of campaigns covering lower arm bolts, strut clamp bolts and power steering belts and pipes. The suspension, steering and power steering sections document every one of those components and their torque figures.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the American Transit?
No. This is the Mk7 Transit sold in Europe and internationally, with the Duratorq TDCi diesels. The North American Transit that arrived for 2015 is a different van.

Does it cover the petrol engine?
Yes — the 2.3L Duratec has its own fuel charging and ignition sections alongside the two diesels.

Is electrical work covered?
Yes: wiring harnesses, the module communications network, module configuration, the charging and starting systems, exterior lighting and the electronic modules all have their own sections.

Can I search it?
Yes, every section is a searchable PDF.

Which years does it fit?
2006 to 2011 — the years that share the 2.2L and 2.4L Duratorq diesels and the 2.3L Duratec petrol, before the 2012 revision to the engine range.
